Halloween Festivities

We had some fun Halloween festivities this year! What fun it was to dress up Fischer for his first Halloween. I'm sure he'll look back and give me the "mom why did you make me look like such a dork'" but what can I say!

We of course couldn't forget the puppies in the Halloween festivities. So here is Tilly (fairy) and Tucker (devil) these are Uncle Glenn & Aunt Jamie's dogs.
And of course Bailey had to get all dressed up in her horse and rider consume!
Gma and Grand-dad bought Fischer a pumpkin shirt and matching socks.
A pumpkin Fischer size!
I had to post this, I caught him mid smile! :)
Gma and Grand-dad brought over a BIG pumpkin and colored it to match his shirt!
And last but not least, Fischer's actual Halloween costume. He was a giraffe and a stinking cute one at that! Grammy, Papa, Uncle Glenn and Aunt Jamie all came over to help pass out candy to all the neighbors.
He's so adorable! :)

Happy Halloween!

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween Birthday Mara!

Picture from Mara & Zach's birthday dinner

One my good friends birthday is tomorrow. Every year she gets to celebrate her birthday on her favorite holiday, Halloween. How fun is that! This year is a special birthday, she is turning the big 30!!!! And to make it even more fun her new hubby is also celebrating his 30th birthday a few days later. We had the opportunity to host a special dinner for Mara and Zach last weekend to wish them a Happy 30th Birthday! It was a great night of fellowship and laughs. I'm so grateful we were able to spend that time together.

About a month ago I got to be apart of her amazing wedding. I was so honored that I got to be there to stand by her on one of the most precious day's of her life! Mara I treasure your friendship. You are such a blessing in my life. I look forward to the many more years of friends I know we will have! I love you and Happy 30th Birthday!!!

Happy 2 Month Birthday Fischer

Today Fischer is 2 months old and nothing says happy birthday like getting shots! The poor guy was such a trooper. He is one growing, very healthy baby boy. Here are his 2 month stats:

Head Size - 16 inches - 70%
Length - 24 3/4 inches - 96%
Weight - 13.5 lbs - 90%

We took a video of him at the doctor's which I can't figure out how to play, so once I get that figured out I'll post it! But for now here are some pictures from our doctor's visit today.

You've Been Initiated Uncle Glenn

Welcome Uncle Glenn you have been initiated to the club! This club is only for a select, special few. And you know once you are apart of this club you are LOVED! Uncle Glenn has was over at our house the other night and of course wanted to hold Fischer. Fischer was just sitting in his lap so happy and very content. Uncle Bus (Lance) was giving Uncle Glenn a hard time about how Fischer was going to poop on him. And yes we all got a good laugh at Lance has he was joking with Glenn. Well little did we know it would soon come true. Poor Glenn was sitting there the whole time thinking how abnormally warm his lap felt but not really thinking anything about it, he didn't say anything aloud. So after a bit I grabbed Fischer to go change his diaper. Well needless to say Fischer left Uncle Glenn a nice warm present. Fischer had a MAJOR blow out in his diaper that left Uncle Glenn with a lap full of runny poop. Now not only was his lap full of poop, it had gone up Glenn's shirt too! Uncle Glenn had offically been initiated to the "I've been pooped on" club. As I said only a select, special few will get to be apart of this club, but once apart of this club you know that Fischer LOVES you! :) I can say that I am apart of this club, and just in case I might have forgotten about already being in this club Fischer has initiated me several times. (Blake loaned Glenn one of his shirts, so he didn't have to sit with a bright yellow stain to remind him of had happened, just in case you were wondering)

An Unwanted House Guest!

Looks like a fun spring wreath, right?!?!? This is the wreath that I've had hanging on my front door all spring.

Well if you take a close look you will see a HUGE nest that a Cactus Wren spent a few weeks making. Now this nest started at one side of the wreath and ended on the other. It consisted of string, tree branches, fabric and all sorts of other little things. This little bird built herself a nice warm tunnel inside this nest. And no this is not the first time a bird has built a nest in this wreath (you'd think I would have learned the first time).
And being the forgetful me, I opened the door the other night and yep...you guess it! This little bird flew right inside our house. With Blake not being home I of course freaked out! Birds are cute from a distance, up close all I could think of nasty bird poop and disease.
So after flying all around our front room, hitting walls this guy finally landed on our car seat base sitting on our front table. (at this point all I could think of was to grab the camera since I had no idea how I was going to get this guy back outside)
Then this adventurous, scared bird flew upstairs and was just walking around on the floor. Thankfully it didn't poop on the carpet (that would have been nasty to clean up).
Can you spot the bird in this picture? Yep he landed in a basket of dried roses on top of a desk we have upstairs. So how did I get this bird out of the house you ask? I grabbed a towel and decided to follow this bird around the upstairs. This bird flew into one of our guest rooms and landed on a chair that just happened to have a blanket draped over it. So once this bird landed on the blanket I quickly tossed the towel on top of him. So then holding all sides I ran as fast as I could downstairs and right back out the front door to the sidewalk. I dropped everything hoping he would fly out but nope. So I carefully lifted up the towel and to my surprise I didn't see the bird. I started to question myself, wondering if I had even caught the bird. And not more than a few seconds later I felt this bird start crawling up my arm. Umm yeah I don't do good with wild things touching me so I screamed and started flailing my arms around. (I must have been pretty loud because my neighbor came out to see what was going on) And thankfully the bird flew away! I did check and there were no eggs in this nest so I made the decision to toss this wreath away. Since this is the second time a nest has been built in this wreath (and yes the first time there was a nest in there the bird flew in the house too, but he was smart a flew right back out after a few minutes). So thank you mom for the pretty wreath but sorry it had to go!

1st Trip to the Cabin

This past weekend we had the opportunity to travel up north to my families cabin. This cabin was bought by my great-grandfather, so it's been in the family for awhile (of course remodeled since then). It's located up in the mountains outside Prescott Valley. It's actually the same elevation as Flagstaff if that is any image of how far up the mountain you drive to get there. The last 20 mins of the drive is on a dirt road. So Blake and I took Fischer up to meet my parents who were already there. Fischer did so good on the drive up, he slept the whole way. He LOVES bouncing, so I knew he'd love it once we hit the dirt road. And sure enough it didn't even phase him, he slept right through it. It was so nice to get away in the cool weather and just have a relaxing weekend with my parents.

So we had to get a Bennett picture (yes even though that's not my last name anymore, Bennett is still in my blood). This sign we have hanging up in front of the cabin says "The Bennett's Live Here". So here's my dad, Fischer and I!
Our Family photo in front of the cabin! (Minus the dogs, they stayed home with Blake's parents)
This is what most of our day consisted of, watching Fischer on the floor. He entertained us all with this smiles and jabbering.
Blake and I decided to go for a walk and enjoy the cool weather. Here's a picture we took with the timer and the camera sitting on a tree stump.
I have to say one of my favorite parts was dressing Fischer up in the cutest winter clothes. He was styling and warm for sure! I had to post this cute picture of him peeking over Blake's shoulder with those gorgeous blue eyes.
We had a great weekend. I can't wait for the many other times that Fischer will get to go up there. I have such great childhood memories up there with my parents and grandparents that it excites me for Fischer to be able to experience that same thing. My dad was already telling Fischer all about the fun adventures they are going to have once he gets older.

Here's some more pictures from the weekend on our Picasa album.

7 Weeks Old

I've been such a bad blogger this last week. Sorry it's taken me so long to do a post! I do apologize. So here's a few posts for you! :)

Oh my word, I can't believe that Fischer is already 7 weeks old. He's a fast growing boy!!!! So of course we've been taken pictures every week with him and his stuffed animal. We were told in our birthing class that from the get go we should take pictures of him with the same stuffed animal so that you can visually see how much bigger he has gotten. I haven't posted any pictures since he was 4 weeks old. So here is his 5, 6 and 7 week photos! Sorry I've been behind but better late then never right! Every week I feel like Fischer is learning and growing into such a big boy. He has found his hand (yes only one his right hand) which means the first place it goes is in his mouth! He now will follow me with his eyes as I walk around the room. He also gives the best smiles. It just melts my heart when he looks at me and smiles. And his other newest thing is his oohhing and aahhing. He is becoming quite the talker! At night when I put him in his bed I can hear him just blabbing away for a few mins before he goes to sleep. It's like he's telling me about his day before he goes to sleep. It's super cute. Then when he wakes up in the morning he does the same, like he's letting me know hey I'm up and hungry so let's get this day started! :) I love it!

A 6th Generation Arizonian

So know wonder I like the heat so much, it's in my blood. Fischer is a 6th generation Arizonian. Unique hu?! Not many people can say that. A few weekends ago I was able to take Fischer to my grandparents house so we could get a 4 generation photo (& 4 AZ generations). So this is Fischer's great-grandpa Charles (I call him Papa) & grandpa Charles (my dad). It was really important to me that my grand parents get to see Fischer. They have been such a huge part of my life.

Here's my grandma (I call her Nanny) & Fischer when we were still in the hospital. It meant the world to me that she came to the hospital to see us. She has been my prayer worrier. She said she has been praying for me my whole life and now is praying for Fischer. That makes me cry just thinking about it. Fischer is her 6th great-grand child but the excitement she had to finally meet Fischer was like it was her 1st.

So I had to find this picture of my Nanny holding me when I was just born! She still has that loving smile! :)
Here is Fischer's other great-grandma (I call her grandma Billie) that lives here in Arizona. Grandma Billie started bugging Blake and I before we even got married to give her a great-grand child. HAHA So needless to say when she found I was pregnant she was jumping for joy to meet her 1st great-grand child. She had the biggest smile on her face as she walked into our house to meet him.

I'm so glad that I'm able to get pictures with Fischer and his great-grand parents. And let me tell you there will be many more.

Blake is Home

I just wanted to do a quick post to tell everyone that Blake is home from the wild land fire!

Motherhood

Ok so I have to admit that I stole this cartoon off a friend's blog (Thanks Bri). But when I read it, I couldn't help to laugh and realize that has been my life since Fischer was born. I also have to admit that had I read this cartoon prior Fischer I would have said, no that would never happen to me. But boy would I have been wrong. It's amazing that I get excited to have eaten breakfast before 11am and lunch before 3pm. And even more excited if I can shower sometime in there! HA Fischer will be 6 weeks old this week and I am getting more adjusted to life as a Mother. I'm still no where back to normal, not that I really know what normal looks like anymore. But something that I would never trade for ANYTHING! Motherhood is something I never imagined to be what it has been, but it's something way better than I every could have imagined. God is truly amazing in the way He created it all. I love it all! :)

Fischer & Avery Meet

The other day Fischer got to meet baby Avery. They are 4 weeks apart and WOW what a difference just 4 weeks makes when they are so young. Fischer looks so big compared to Avery. We are very excited for them to grow up together. And soon enough they will be running around together.

Twin Fire Update

This morning the evacuation order was lifted in Williams, so residents are returning home. The fire is about 15% contained but not near any homes at this time. So things are looking good that the guys will not be there much longer. The winds are dying down and they did get some rain yesterday. So far the fire has burned about 1000 acres.

Here's a picture of Blake and some other guys waiting in staging to get their daily assignment.
This is this mornings briefing, where all the firefighters are given an update on the fire and are told what actions will be taken that day to try and contain the fire.

Blake's off to fight a wild land fire

Blake in front of the water tender in Williams.

Blake left last night to go help fight the Twin Fire near Williams, AZ. This fire started as a control burn of 800 acres that got out of control Friday due to high winds. Right now he is on structure patrol, which means they are protecting people's homes. There are predictions of rain this weekend so that will help the fire fighters help fight this fire. Let's pray for rain and no winds!

When Blake goes off and does things like this it always reminds me why I married him. What an amazing husband I have. He has a great heart to help in whatever way he can, whether it's helping strangers or his own family. Leaving this time was a bit harder than in the past. Fischer and I are going to miss him a ton! :) But i'm so thankful Fischer has such a great dad as a role model. I love you Blake!
